Reflections & Time to Think

Things have been quiet on the blog this past month as we've been focused on the holiday rush and taking some much needed time off to recoup. They don't call it holidaze for nothing, right? The days before and after New Year's are my favorite time of year as it seems like the whole world takes a deep breath in and reflects. That pause is so important and I hope you can set aside some time this week for yourself.

One year ago I had just left my day job and began pursuing Canoe full time. I wrote about that experience and pulled the curtain back to share a very honest story on Design*Sponge. Writing that essay was both challenging and liberating. The supportive feedback I received was a huge help this past year during difficult times and spurred me forward. Thank you for all the kindness you've shown me, whether on instagram, in-person at a show, or via email.

Earlier this month, I spoke with Jennifer Snyder about my journey for her fantastic podcast "Creating Your Own Path." We had a really wonderful talk about being patient and kind to yourself as you explore your passions. It's such an important lesson to learn and one I come back to often. I'll be taking that advice for 2016. Cheers to a very happy, joyful, and wonderful new year.
