Have you heard of Boss Babes ATX? I first found out about them through facebook, and went to their inaugural meet up with hundreds of women I didn't know. It was empowering and amazing to be in a space with so many creative and like-minded folks. FELIZ has teamed up with the Boss Babe crew to bring you an honest and open conversation about finding your creative career path. On Tuesday, November 10th, I'll be speaking with Laura Uhlir, Leigh Patterson, Jenny Mulder, Miranda Bennett, and Sarah Murphy about what it takes to start and sustain a brand, hard lessons learned, and solid advice for hustling. I would love to invite you, but the event sold out in about 4 hours (!!!). That level of support is inspiring me to hop on the Periscope wagon to share our conversation with you all. Follow us on Periscope @canoe_austin to watch the talk live on 11/10 at 7pm CST. The video will stay live for 48 hours so you can catch the whole conversation!
It’s that time of year again–Feliz is here! Laura and Jenny have done an amazing job this year and it all kicks off this Wednesday with an opening party and pop up shop at Madewell (at the Domain, 11501 Century Oaks Terrace, Austin). I’ll be there to celebrate with Canoe goods for sale, alongside Miranda Bennett, Hey Murphy, and Sister. There will be snacks and cocktails.
The big sale happens this Sunday from 10-6pm at the Palm Door (401 Sabine St, Austin). Check out the full list of vendors below. There will be free tote bags for early birds and free cocktails for the post-brunch crowd. Bring your friends and family and pick up your holidays gifts early this year.
photo by Triple Max Tons FELIZ is back and happening this weekend in Austin! I am so excited for this year's new line up, including such talent like Tiro Tiro, Fail, Hey Murphy, Alyson Fox, Proud Mary, and so many more. I started FELIZ last year with my friend Abby Powell Thompson, and it's grown into so much more than I had dreamed. I am extremely grateful to the multi-talented Leigh Patterson and Laura Uhlir who took the reins this year and have done such a beautiful job.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday evening with a launch party at Public School (1021 E. 7th St) from 5-8pm, with cocktails and food provided by Salt & Time. There will be a silent auction of FELIZ goods on Saturday, with all proceeds benefiting our friends at Girls Guild. The big event takes place this Sunday from 10-6pm at the Palm Door (401 Sabine St, Austin, TX) and is free to attend. They'll be drinks, sunny skies, beautiful wares, and I hope to see you there, friends.
Ya'll have heard me rave about the ladies of Studio Choo, Jill & Alethea. This talented duo has a new book out, the Flower Recipe Book, and are embarking on a book tour this week. I'm excited to announce that they'll be coming to Austin and teaching a FELIZ workshop on making flower crowns this Saturday afternoon at Rosewood Collective (1223 Rosewood Ave).
We only have a few spots left, so book your ticket now! In addition to learning how to make flower crowns, workshop attendees will also receive a copy of their book, making it a real deal for only $35. Afterwards, we'll party it up with floral-infused cocktails and a book signing to celebrate Jill & Alethea's trip.
Stay tuned for some other exciting workshop announcements from Canoe soon!
FELIZ just ended. Truly and with all my heart, it was a life-affirming weekend. Gathering artists that you've admired, some for years, some for months, into the same space and letting them share their stories and work was a privilege. There was such a collection of talent, strength, personality, humor, and love in this room that I was just overwhelmed. Here are some beautiful images by Triple Max Tons of the Sunday sale. I'll have more to say once the dust settles, but, for now, enjoy some of the beauty of the weekend.

Hi friends, sorry for the radio silence this last week. The studio has been in overdrive as we get ready for FELIZ, which kicks off tonight at West Elm Austin (1011 West 5th Street)!! Tonight's party runs from 6-8pm and I do hope you can make it out.
I've been working on tooled leather holiday ornaments, which I will be customizing for folks at the party tonight from 6-7pm. Here's a photo of the ornaments just after being tooled--some are still drying (hence the darker leather). I'll be taking orders to add your initials or a friend's to these tonight, then dying/sealing them over the weekend. The final finished ornaments will be ready for pick up on Sunday at the big FELIZ sale on Sunday.
Speaking of Sunday, I'll have the entire Luna Collection with me for sale at the show, plus old favorites like the tooled key chains and other great gift items. Below is a small sampling of the blue Vortex wallets I'm bringing, also available in black, too. Can't wait to share these with folks and meet everyone!
