I can't help but smile wide watching the trailer for "We Are The Best!, " a Swedish film by Lukas Moodysson. The film follows two 13-year-old best friends who are outcasts at their school for being punk rockers after punk is dead. But, guys, punk's not dead! The film was released in the US at the end of May, so find a theater near you and relive the volatile emotions of being 13.
I'm excited to be joining a wonderful group of women on Thursday, May 22nd for a panel discussion on creativity. Join us for the CRAVE Fuel event at Spruce Upholstery (6611 N. Lamar Blvd). I'll be speaking with Amanda Brown (Spruce), Maura Ambrose (Folk Fibers), Chelsea Fullerton (Go Forth), and Jessica Sanders (Drink.Well). Reserve your spot here.
Ya'll know I will jump at any excuse to head back to Marfa. Thankfully, the Trans-Pecos Music Festival is happening next weekend, which means we're heading back West! I'm excited to be teaching a leather tooling workshop on Friday, September 13th at El Cosmico--snag your tickets right here before you go, as spots are limited.
We'll also be set up from Thursday-Saturday as a festival vendor, so you can shop to your heart's content for that perfect memento from the trip. Pick up some hair clips you've been eyeing, or that leather catch all tray for the bedside table. You'll also get to shop the work of KKDW, woodworker extraordinaire Kelly DeWitt.
I'm hitting the road for a short vacation back to Marfa this weekend with friends. Looking forward to having more time this trip to see Donald Judd's work, catch up with my favorite boot makers, and just explore town. It's my official "kick off to summer" trip, and inspiration for our new collection.
